Ah...summer in the city. It's a great time to be in D.C because the live music scene really explodes here in the summer. I'm really excited to promote one such live music event that is going down at the legendary Blues Alley called Shaolin Jazz L!ve. I've mentioned the good, rawness that is Shaolin Jazz awhile ago, and it's great that what once was some tracks on my iPod will now be a live performance with the very DJs and producers who helped to conceive and execute it.
For a quick refresher, Shaolin Jazz is this incredible mash up of songs from Wu Tang Clan's debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) with jazz cuts that really solidify the long running bond between hip hop and jazz. The project was conceived by Gerlad Watson, and was produced by DJ 2-Tone Jones.
Both will be at the live show June 25th at Blues Alley with two sets, 8 and 10 pm along with Sound of the City. You don't want to miss this, seriously. It'll be a nice change of pace for Blues Alley to promote hip hop in addition to its great jazz lineups, so I really hope to make the show and see you all there!
Check out songs from Shaolin Jazz the 27th Chamber here and get your ear buds warmed up. The check out the show on June 25th.
