DIY: Neon Satchel

Sunday, April 15, 2012

Alright, so who among us has not swooned over the bright, beautiful (now ubiquitous) neon Cambridge Satchels? They're stunning, right? Price tag, not so much for a frugal gal like myself. And that right there inspired a little DIY neon satchel made with a $2 bag I bought from the Goodwill last year :) Woot!

What you'll need:

-simple leather bag
-bright colored spray paint from your local art supply store
-painter's tape
(so simple!)

The process:

1. Head outdoors for this DIY  since you're dealing with spray paint. Collect an old cardboard box or other recyclable material to put the bag on top of.

2. Using the painter's tape, cover the silver buckles or circles on the bag so you don't spray them.

3. Begin spraying the bag, making sure to get the sides and back when it's dry enough to turn over.

4. Let dry overnight and voila! Your own neon satchel.
