Black Americana

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

My eyes nearly bugged out of their little sockets when I came across these photos from an incredible photo series entitled "Black Americana" via my friend Charreah's tumblr. It's a "four-part photo essay commentary on Black American life and patriotism", and the color, energy and presence of these images is almost too wonderful to bear! They're photographed in a style very similar to the classic Coca Cola ads. This is a beautiful projection of the black experience that is often left out of the context of what "Americana" means. It's just gorgeous. And this photo series is looking to get your help in spreading the word and getting the images into galleries/magazines around the world through their IndieGoGo campaign. And click here to see the tumblr.

Let me know what you think!
