D.C Event: Women in Jazz

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

A quick plug for any of you who are jazz fans living in The District. A good friend and wonderful jazz pianist /resident comedienne named Amy K. Bormet has created the first annual Women in Jazz festival here in D.C, and every Wednesday through the end of March she will be showcasing her talent along with a host of other great female musicians. I was pretty excited when she asked me to be her photographer for the weekly events, and so for the next couple of weeks I'll be weaving through the audience trying to capture the energy. Here are a few pics from tonight's show featuring Saxophone player Gabrielle Murphy. Bass player Regan Brough  subbed in for another woman who had pneumonia, but he refused to wear the clip-on earrings provided :) On drums for the evening was Andrew Hare.

Remember, Women in Jazz every Wednesday in March starting at 8pm at Twins Jazz on U St!
