Lots of Sade in my world lately. She's such a gorgeous and diverse artist on so many levels, and her come up in music is equally diverse having run the gambit of modeling, acting, fashion design, songwriting and singing.

The Sweetest Taboo. Les Nubians covered this song that also featured Black Thought of The Roots.

Speaking of remakes, peep this! Jimmy Smith's "Root Down and Get It" from 1972 is like my new favorite funk/jazz beat. Check the drum in the introduction that already pronouned itself as hip hop's predecessor before hip hop was even a notion. No surprise the The Beastie Boys heard this joint and seized the opportunity to sample it for themselves a decade later.
